$23 dollars extra to upgrade from CR-39 lens to Trivex worth it?

So I have a vision insurance with a $25 copay and anything not part of the basic CR-39 or polycarbonate lens, I would get a 20% discount (Crizal coating, Trivex lens, or high index lens for example). Since my prescription is below 1.0, I usually go for the CR-39 lens because it offers the best optic and my prescription is low enough. However, I found a place who would offer me Trivex lens for $60 - 20% insurance discount which makes it $48. The great thing is that I do not have to pay the $25 copay + the $48 for the Trivex, but only the $48 total. They say they can combine the Trivex with my copay because the lens are considered an essential item, thus my copay would only be $48. All the other places I checked wanted to charge me a $25 copay + the cost of the Trivex lens.

    1. How can there be a variability between other optometrist offices like this?
    2. $23 to upgrade to Trivex seems like a good deal. The optic may not be better, but I get a lighter lens, thinner (1.53 index), less prone to break, inherent UV protection.
