  • Good Kids Sunglasses? (No Ray-Ban or Lux)

Looking for good options for kids, tweeners and teens-- we don't do Lux, not interested in Nike. We have Babiators, safety types, looking into Julbo---

Who else do you guys use for this? Has anyone used Polaroid?

Wiley X, Bolle, and EyeCroxx have done well for us.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Kids sunglasses have never, over the ages, been a good item .....................

Kids sunglasses have never, over the ages, been a good item for an optical store, with the exception of them made in a prescription for special cases.

Kids in general are too rough with just a pair of sunglasses and should not cost much as they get lost or damaged.

So just let people buy them for cheap at any department store as Walmart or equivalent

Instead of denying protection because 'kids will be kids' more durable frames should be offered. There are many lines, ophthalmic and sun, that cater to this mentality.

If you are solely focused on making money, than no it is probably not a profitable venture.

I don't think parents are as concerned about durability as they are it being inexpensive, they don't want or cant afford expensive glasses for children. Now try to add sunglasses to that equation. For the most part we live in a disposable society plus we pick and choose where our priority's are. Its amazing to me how much people will spend on their boats and fishing gear and have no Rx suns to use in the boat or truck.

in my experience, parents will not spend money on children's sunglasses. They will sit on your board forever. Even Ray-Bans.

That said, Wiley X and Polaroid are excellent bang for the buck and quality.

I allocate the $35-$150 cost to my advertising budget. But it also helps jump start the thought process that kids need eye protection too, especially in the summer.

Never thought of it as advertising. Great idea! Something to keep in mind. I used to carry baby bandz and kids banz years ago. They came with a super cute hat too. They made great gifts! We sold a ton of those. Great for baby showers. I think they maxed out age wise around 4 yrs.
