    Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake, living up to its name.

The high Uinta range in north eastern Utah are the tallest in the state. Between many of the 12-13,000+ foot peaks, are numerous high altitude glacial lakes. Popular spots when the valley temperature rises into the 90's and 100's. Mirror lake is one of the more popular spots, and I was pleased that after dark, there weren't too many people running around with headlamps and giant flashlights to ruin the shots. The clouds, on the other hand, had different plans. This image is looking towards the galactic core - not that it's super visible behind all that water vapor mess. I suppose it adds some terrestrial 'drama' to the image if nothing else.

Don't knock the terrestrial drama. This is a unique shot because of, not despite, the clouds.

Hehehe - true. I don't dislike the clouds per se - just wish they'd give me a break sometime around new moon this year. It seems that every time the sky goes dark, *all* the clouds move in out here. Next weekend is back down to Goblin Valley and possibly some ghost towns nearby for a night photo shoot with friends. Here's to hoping weather (wind, clouds, possible vagrant hobos) all cooperate. :D
