    Thoughts on Eyemed

Hello all. We dropped Eyemed about 3 years ago when our frustrations with their reimbursements and lab options (or lack of them) became too much for us to tolerate.

We are currently in a position to buy a practice whose owner currently accepts EM. The OD would likely stay on board part-time until retirement, so now we are wondering if it would be worthwhile to keep accepting EM with this OD. We currently have a fairly successful program that lets us file for out-of-network benefits for the patient and has been well received by our EM patients that decide to buy from us.

So for those of you that still deal with EM on a daily basis, what are your thoughts? Has it grown even worse over the past 3 years? Should we give it another shot, or avoid it at all costs and save ourselves a headache?

P.S. About 15% of patients at the practice have EM.

15% is pretty small, I bet they don't even account for 5% of the office revenues.

Eyemed has gotten neither better nor worse over the last 3 years.

This was my thought as well, it may not be worth the effort for such a small number.

Sounds like no one has anything good to say about Eyemed so I will likely recommend we continue avoiding it. Which is exactly what I was hoping to do

As a side note, can anyone fill me in on how Eyemed frame reimbursements work? PM if necessary
