I'm looking for a trifocal lens with more than 50% of the bifocal add in the middle zone preferably in a plastic. Does anything exist? I found Acclaim 61's in glass which have a 61% of add if I have to go that route.
Thanks,
Chris

I just went through jobson's lens book availabile here: http://bt.e-ditionsbyfry.com/publication/?i=455093 (it does not look like a login is required as I opened the link in another browser that was not logged into frames data) in not glass I'm not seeing anything stock. That being said most of the trifocals do not list their trifocal add %.
Three Rivers Optical does have their custom Trifocal (listed under 1.50, 1.67, and polycarbonate) which is their O Seg on the front surface of the lens and a second O seg on the back surface of their lens to make up the trifocal. As both segments are custom (within the normal O seg sizes for the front surface) it says they can make the trifocal be any size you want, however it says nothing about trifocal power. However, when they first released this I remember that they only listed as a computer style lens with a relatively low add range compared to their standard O seg bifocal (I do not have the paper anymore so I can't be more specific) and I don't know if anything has changed, though Jobson does list the add range as +2.00 to +8.00 (I would assume on the bifocal portion).
The cost of fabricating a mold to produce a single semi-finished polymer lens would probably cost in excess of $10.000.00. So forget about that, eh. And, 3D printing technology ain't there yet.
The good news is that you can revert to 275 year old technology and make up a Franklin 3 Piece Trifocal. The beauty of this lens is that you can have precise control over power, prism and OC location in all three zones.
The bad news is trying to find a real optician to fabricate it. Lotsa luck!
Welcome to OB Chris. Acclaim 61 is all I can think of. It is available in CR39 plastic.

Thanks for the help. I ended up going with the Acclaim, didn't realize it came in plastic.
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

I was told X-Cel was purchased by Essilor and was cutting out some of those specialty lenses. If that's true, get that stuff while you can.
If there is a barcode available for any of the specials, the lens was kept. Other than that you're out of luck
No changes in my stock. I rarely use X-Cel, so maybe I haven't noticed the loss of particular items. I'll ask for a new availability list and poke around for changes- it's long overdue anyways.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?
