Question Help Verifying Shamir Auto II Office

Attached is the lab spec sheet.

    Patient's Standard (everyday normal) Rx:
    OD -1.50-0.25x145
    OS -2.25-0.50x040
    Add +2.25

The Rx order was written as preferred by our lab. We write the normal everyday Rx (just like above) and just specify the lens style as Auto II Office. This is for the newest digital version.

What should I expect the power to read through the carrier (upper section) of the finished job?
    Thanks in advance!

The short answer is you don't verify the top portion of the lens. The long answer is it would be complete luck to match up the compensated distance rx to any part of the lens. Assuming that the lens was fit using the manufacturer recommendations, 10 mm between the fitting cross and the top of the frame, the area of distance is so small you would never get it centered to verify without running into the frame.
The official way to verify it (link here) is to only verify the reading (total reading power, not just the add and in your case I would use the compensated powers, both add and distance, when doing the calculation for the total reading power), which is what I've been told do by several lens manufacturers in that segment.

As with all office lenses, there is a portion approximately 8mm above the cross. The power will read what the compensated RX that the lab sends, within ANSI standards. This is true with IOT, Zeiss, etc. Lay it out on your cut out chart to mark the far and near.

Thank you jpways - this is excellent help. Looking at the spec sheet, what would you expect the carrier to read?

Thanks for your help, lensmanmd. Here's what I'm getting at a point 8mm above the prism reference point. Looks way wrong to me:

    OD -1.25-0.25x166
    OS -2.00-0.37x045

I'm trying to bring it to the attention of the surfacing lab at the moment.

I was looking at what they did and it was actually interesting (and I wasn't reading it right), so using the ordered rx your total reading power is (=sphere+add, cylinder, axis)
    +0.75 -0.25 x 145
    +0.00 -0.50 x 40
the compensated values from the lab report(ignoring the add) are:
    +0.75 -0.25 x 145
    +0.00 -0.50 x 40

My critical reading skill on my original answer were subpar (ok they sucked) but that's what you would verify as the reading

From memory, the distance window on the Office is +0.50 DS over the manifest refraction.

    Hope this helps,
