Patients insurance company sent him online to buy his glasses.

I am not an online glasses company hater (you want poor optics go for it.), but have never heard of an insurance company recommending it. It should not surprise me for the cost savings it will provide the insurance company. I work in a non insurance office for eyewear and deal with seniors, so we don’t feel the impact of online sales. This patient is in his first multifocal a progressive and does not like it go figure. “I gave them the measurements that are on my old glasses” he told me. I just smiled and put the screw back in his new glasses then wishes him a good day.

Nothing new. VSP has been recommending their members to their Eyeconic website to order eyewear. Eyemed likely doing the same with the number of online vendor websites both Luxottica and Essilor now own

I am not the best friend of any insurance company. They have to make money for their shareholders.

So they will save whenever they have a chance of getting away with any less payments to make.

I have been waiting to hear that they are actually supporting the much cheaper way of online opticals. It will most probably become the way to go for most of them in the near future.

Just imagine the newly formed merger of Essilux at the end of June which is then owning the biggest batch of online opticals, will to everything to steer business their way.

    Exactly.

Sometimes my friends recommend meals they like at restaurants to me, majority of the time they are very awful.

We all have patients that come back with their "costco" or "online" glasses of shame.

Like me and my friends awful recommendations, you must learn first hand from your bad decision to listen to others.

    Costco?
They have a no questions asked refund policy so why would anyone unhappy with their Optical Purchase have a horror story?

    well..........well..............well...................

I never even thought about that, and it is a fact.

Maybe the two above posts should be corrected to a better format.

*shrug* I assumed by horror story he meant people going back again and again and not being able to see.
