Help with prism! Split or not?

    Hello,

Please excuse me - I am not a optician, I am a patient. If anyone can offer any help I would be very appreciative.

I recently bought some (quite expensive) glasses. I am 22 year old male in the UK. Recently I had been experiencing a tiny amount of double vision - or more accurately finding it hard to read after looking at screens a lot at work. My optometrist suggested adding a prism to my glasses to correct for this. I only wear glasses for reading/computer work.

    My prescription is:
    Right: Sph +0.25, Cyl -0.50, Axis 137
    Left: Sph +0.50, Cyl -1.25, Axis 64, Prism 2 D (base Down)

The dispensing optician said that it would be best to split the prism 1 down in the left, 1 up in the right. I checked with the optometrist and she said this was best.

When the glasses came I saw that the prism that had been made was in fact 2 down in left, none in right! Does this 'splitting' make any difference? Should I ask them to replace the lenses?

I am also worried that having this prism could cause me to develop a lazy eye? Does this relate at all to the splitting of the prism?

    Many thanks,
    N
