I think that interviews in this industry are meant to be more of a discussion rather than a traditional question/answer scenario. If an owner is going to entrust a part of his profit and reputation to a person for many years, then it's important to really try to get to know each other as well as possible then and there.
Absolutely! We just had this conversation yesterday. An interview should be different for each candidate you are interviewing and while we can provide guidelines about how to approach the conversation and sample questions to ask, we cannot write the entire interview out on paper.
Without a dialogue or conversation, you might as well be asking the questions on an application.
Interviewers can say a lot about a company as well. When interviewing top level positions especially, the interview stage is more critical than ever, serving as a filter for the candidate to screen out different employers based on how well or how poorly an interview goes.
What are some practices/tips/questions that you use during your interviews? How do you typically approach them?
