    This looks familiar.

I think it was left as a possible video conference.

Very busy time of year to try to do this right now however!

My vote is for a video conference! I would love to see it and know with my limited schedule, I would not be able to travel.

A live lecture would be most excellent, however critical mass may require a more traveled lecture series, and probably coast to cost, visiting select cities. A video option seems a much more logical option - at least initially. Perhaps a platform like Patreon or the like would allow him to be properly paid for his time, while allowing the broadest possible audience?

+1 for a live lecture. Maybe a hybrid lecture in a densely populated city with concurrent live cast of the lecture to those outside of the feasable travel distance. I'm in for $100.

Interesting. So I assume that means he is not practicing?

    Wow.

So he basically operated like EVERY OD/MD does in the US, but got busted for it? We wouldn't be able to build the prisons fast enough if every doc here were held to legal account for mis-"prescribing" tints like FL-41. I don't claim to know anything of the intricacies of UK dispensing law in a case like Ian's here, but it certainly sounds serious.

A charlatan in Jolly old England is the same as a charlatan in the US and they have a tendency get defrocked.

I admit, this one caught me a bit by surprise. It seems the major issue was poor records and charting, coupled with no documentation of consult/referrals with other medical professionals. Looks like page 23 of the document above is where it really begins to get into the meat and potatoes of the matter.

There is evidence to support his claim.

Looks like this was published after the dates in question in this case. In addition, this was one study, not generally accepted medical practice. That seems to be the other big beef the inquisitors took with Ian's methods. To say nothing of what sounds to be absolutely atrocious charting, records, and non-existent communication with other medical professionals.

Blue Jumper The question is right here ..........................................

The question is right here, do you want to financially support a trip to North America lectures for an individual that has been ousted from his profession for his non understandable and unproven theories ?

Yes. Just because his methods are not the norm and not widely practiced does not mean he doesn't have knowledge that wouldn't be beneficial for others to learn about. In fact, I'm more interested because what he can share is not readily available elsewhere.

Personally, I place more credence in results over scientific reports. That's probably not the norm (as witnessed in separate threads), but it is how I choose what to recommend for products and practices.

If you look at the bottom of the article, there are references to other articles that support color overlays helping children with autism. Just because his record keeping was atrocious, doesn't mean that he was not seeing results from his color therapy. Just because something is not generally accepted by the medical society, doesn't mean that it doesn't work. According to the Irlen website, there are over 100 peer-reviewed studies supporting overlays and lenses to treat the perceptual processing difficulties associated with Irlen Syndrome.

My nephew has frequent seizures. For years they've treated him with Valium. Now, when he has a seizure, they treat him by applying frankincense oil to his head and feet. It has stopped his seizures in less than two minutes, each and every time, consistently for over a year now, without the negative side effects of Valium. I doubt you find an MD that would recommend that as the initial treatment for seizures, but it works. That being said, I don't know that Ian has anything to teach that can't be learned from the Irlen program.

It matters not at all to me what I think of the studies. They aren't generally accepted medical practice. Period. That, coupled with his very poor records, seem to be what bit Ian in the end. If you have any further grievence, you are welcome to take it up with the sanctioning body of the above case I suppose. *shrug*

But we all need blue Blockers...

How does vision therapy fit into this?

#1 lesson for optician's--- Don't step on Doctors toes...(or wallets?)

    AMA plans to eliminate chiropractic

On November 2, 1963, the AMA Board of Regents created the "Committee on Quackery" with the goals of first containing, and then eliminating chiropractic. H. Doyle Taylor, the Director of the AMA Department of Investigation and Secretary of the Committee on Quackery, outlined the steps needed:[48]

    1. to ensure that Medicare should not cover chiropractic
    2. to ensure that the U.S. Office of Education should not recognize or list a chiropractic accrediting agency
    3. to encourage continued separation of the two national associations
    4. to encourage state medical societies to take the initiative in their state legislatures in regard to legislation that might affect the practice of chiropractic.

The AMA worked to spread information designed to discredit chiropractic through public media and the scientific literature.[48]
The longstanding feud between chiropractors and medical doctors continued for decades. The AMA labeled chiropractic an "unscientific cult" in 1966,[5] and until 1980 held that it was unethical for medical doctors to associate with "unscientific practitioners".[49] In 1975, an anonymous AMA insider describing himself as a disgruntled AMA staffer and identifying himself as "Sore Throat" released information concerning the Committee on Quackery and its proposed methods to eliminate chiropractic to the press.[50] These papers were the basis of Wilk et al. vs. AMA, the suit brought by Chester Wilk, D.C., of Illinois and five co-plaintiffs against the AMA and several co-defendants. After two trials, on September 25, 1987, Getzendanner issued her opinion that the AMA had violated Section 1, but not 2, of the Sherman Act, and that it had engaged in an unlawful conspiracy in restraint of trade "to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession." (Wilk v. American Medical ***'n, 671 F. Supp. 1465, N.D. Ill. 1987).[6]

Color overlays have already been proven to work, even if nobody can medically explain how. This is genius at work and he deserves our support.
