Essilor-Luxottica merger clears another regulatory hurdle
    Published: 01/12/2017
    Optician Online

Essilor and Luxottica have confirmed the proposed merger between the two companies has been cleared by the Canadian Competition Bureau.

Canada is one of the five jurisdictions where antitrust approvals are a condition precedent to the closing of the transaction.

The transaction has been cleared so far in 10 other territories: Australia, Colombia, India, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan. A European investigation is ongoing.

Looks like the European Committee did not receive their check, as the decision is on hold for a couple of month, until February or March.

A check to any one in the Trump administration will more than guarantee an approval. Sessions, Mnuchin et al.

I haven't listened to much political news, mostly focusing on what I can control. Is this what "pay for play" is?
