MEI EZFit NBL installed. Super excited!

Man oh man, just what I needed. Still getting my feet wet, but it has already saved us 4 breakages within an hour.

We had a ST with 6 up decentration, AR, superhydro. Multiple slippage issues off of 2 edgers. Cut it today on the MEI, one cut, perfect.

One of my inspectors did an eye for eye @ 1st inspection. Put it on the MEI (no block) and caught it immediately.

The NBL reads the RX, no block needed, position the lens via touch screen, and voila! Customize the bevel parameters to your heart’s desire.

    Can’t wait to learn more.

Just looked this up and it certainly comes across as capable! Congrats on the upgrade!

Is the EZFit on par with Mr. Blue?? I've seen some impressive sunglass vent work and drill shapes done on those.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Um. Nope. Not even close, though Mr Blue is awesome, it's just not as awesome as the EZFit.

I think around the price of a top end all the bells and whistles Corvette, maybe a low end Ferrari. Somewhere in there.

As good as wet can be, but we still run a few laps on the buffer to make it shine. For Zyls, it is passable.

I saw this edger at the Las Vegas and I was impressed, still not in the market for a new toy but I was very tempted. I have two Santinelli 1200 and this edger could do easily the work of both.
How is the MEI doing cutting Phoenix/Trivex?
Please let us know all the plus and the minus you encounter.
    Thanks

No issues with Trivex at all. Cut a few drills with polish on a Superhydro AR, no twist, perfect hole size and placement. Ready to assemble.

The good, too many to list. Here are a few of my favorites
Inclined beveling with polish. High minus edging solved. No more splayed temples, with minimal adjustments at mounting.
Multiple step choices, including T bevel with steps for wraps, sport goggles and those pesky Oakleys
The NBL (No block option). Reads RXs with on screen layout guides for perfect blocking everytime. SV, PAL, ST, Exec, including pretinted and Polarized lenses. This saves time and resources. No blocks, no pads and no antislip consumables.
All beveling options are fully adjustable, meaning the user has full control over the parameters if the default is not satisfactory to lens that you are working with
Completes about 15 jobs/hr with Superhydro settings on mixed materials and mixed edge polish. We are using the MEI mostly for AR, steps, thick lenses, unusually decenetered lenses, and basically any lens that has a high chance of twisting/cracking in a traditional edger. Not superfast, but faster than our 7EXs on these type of jobs.

The minus will depend on your LMS. For ours:
PAL engravings have to be manually loaded into the database for immediate recognition
Drill data have to manually created, but can be saved into the EZFit shape database for recall later

It has only been a week, so I can update later with consumable costs, ease of tool changes and maintenance, etc. I will request some specialized programming scripts (auto incline bevel on Zyl over -4D, auto step on sport goggles, etc) since I don't have any programmers on my staff (yet). I will probably take a small video of the entire process from layout to completion later next week. Stay tuned.

I’m glad you are enjoying your new edger. In order to take a quick clip, click on the camera Icon then you will see a small film icon that will record a live video of your edger. Make sure your door is cleaned from any dust to get a clear video. “The result a modified go pro in a edger”.

Are you saying this edger comes standard with a built in camera?

Yes. The NoBlock Edger has 4 Cameras even with the standard model.
2 of them measure the Base Curve and edge thickness prior to edging, so the machine can adjust the feed rate automatically. 1 camera faces the cutting chamber, so operator can view what’s going on in there in real-time + take pictures or video clips. The 4th one is a super advanced camera with Shack-Hartman sensor, this gives the machine the ability to read the lens RX in the most precise way possible + Identify all sort of lens designs. Then this is a new feature all 3 cameras take a image of the lens as soon as the lens is done (this all happens in seconds)..... and this gives now the operator the ability to do a rework with no block. FYI you can go back sevral days worth of rework. The features are crazy!!

I'm no videographer, but here is the EZFit in action.
Lens is a poly AR with Superhydro, drill and edge polish. The camera system recognizes the engravings for layout. No blocks, no other consumables necessary. I used the Very Slippery setting, which does slow the edger down, but better safe than sorry, I say. No slippage at all. Approximate edge cycle per pair was about 8 minutes.
