    Optician

I have a patient who has worn ribbon segs in his glasses that he wears when conducting an orchestra. The ribbon segs are no longer available. Does anyone know of any other options to meet his needs. He wants to be able to see underneath the seg. Thank you. Yvette

X-Cel still has ribbons available. Hadn't ever heard of them before until I just looked them up! Cool idea but I can see why they are probably in low supply.

The R-shape (Ribbon) shape was patented by Silverman in 1932. The 14 mm. barium crown glass segment is cut from the center of the segment button, the upper and lower portions of which are made of ophthalmic crown glass. The usual segment width is 22 mm.

The Univis R compensated segments can de used to correct imbalances of 1.5 prism diopters or less. These segments were made in seven different forms numbered 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10; the form number representing the number of millimeters from the top of the segment to its optical center.
