    Protecting lenses during frame adjustments

Clearly when a frame front requires an adjustment, it is generally best to remove any Rx lenses to prevent heat damage to the lenses. There are some cases where this is not viable either due to frailty or construction (such as plastic drill mount frames). In these cases, I wrap the lenses in cloths and try to isolate the heat on the frame as much as possible, but this gets tricky and does not always work so well.....any tricks or suggestions on other methods to protect lenses which can not be removed during a frame adjustment?

If you use a HILCO frame warmer, try this.
Get a frame box and cut a slot in it, just big enough to fit the bridge. This will concentrate the heat in one area and away from the lens. Good for temples, too.

Lens man's suggestion is the best. I agree completely.

Hilco actually makes a u shaped piece with slits that fits over the warmer.

I have the Hilco u-shaped piece...but it does not work very well to concentrate the heat...this thread has gotten me to think about modifiying it........

Anyone have opionion's on using Hilco's HOT FINGERS to shape bridges and endpieces without removing or heating the lenses?
