We don't take Eyemed currently but I was wondering if Eyemed plans have an out of network benefit. How could I find out if a particular plan had an out of network benefit my patients could file for?

You can't, if your not a provider Eyemed won't give you any information. The patients can log into eyemed and review their benefits themselves. They will need to register for an account. Here's the link https://www.eyemedvisioncare.com/member
Good thinking tolpuppy! This is the only fair way to "take" insurance! I have paperwork(out-of-network reimbursement forms) for Eyemed, US Healthcare, Davis, and VSP-and I have patients go research their final cost after giving them a quote, and telling them to check at their insurances' website for their reimbursement amounts on a frame and lens (which only THEY can get into due to private ID and passwords)-I give a 20% discount on a complete pair and that combined with their reimbursement has kept us open and enjoying seeing patients!
p.s. patients STILL have NO IDEA how their vision plans and insurances work. What I tell them is, "The way your insurance works here is......" and they follow along.
good luck and let me know if you need copies of reimbursement forms.
