2017 Ranking of the Top Independent Labs

I thought I would add this for those who haven't seen. We've lost 3 labs since last year, which is unfortunately keeping with the current trend. Hang in there and congrats to those still making the list!!

What's surprising is how large some of these IND labs are. Labs of that size are unable to handle the level of customer service that smaller practices need. They are no better equipped than the large corporations. What North America needs is a network of labs that can handle 100 to 200 JPD efficiently in strategic regions while balancing the intricate duties of superior customer service.

The last time we saw this concept was in the 1970s and it most probably will never be reinvented anymore.

Not enough money in it and too small for today's high speed equipment.

I've had wonderful experiences dealing with customer service through Cherry and Identity both. I get a 'family oriented' feel from both companies and enjoy working with their staffs. ABB / Digital Eye Lab, not so much, but maybe that was just the regional reps.

I would think a lab only doing 100-200 JPD would have a very hard time staying afloat though.

Essentially an employee owned (ESOP) company. I use their satellite lab in Oak Creek Wi., taking advantage of same day courier service. Norbert Tausch and staff are first-rate, and that's working with plenty of Rx prism and double digit dioptric values that I send their way on a fairly routine basis. Strongly recommended.
