pt is in GP Trifocal, and intermediate near bifocal, wants to get to one pair

pt is presently in a 7x28 trifocal for General Purpose wear, and a FT-28 for occupational intermediate/near.

She wants to reduce to one pair. Cannot do progressive as she suffers from severe motion sickness.

First thought is make the new trifocal an 8x35, but still don't think that will work for her (She has a neck injury that reduces total possible neck movement, and works with computers with monitors large enough as to make even an 8x35 not cover the whole screens)

10x40 is on the table, but I am worried that will put the reading portion too low for her to access.

    Any thoughts/questions?

Can she wear contacts maybe with a flat top 35 over for inter/near? She seems like a lost cause.

She tried contacts, and no go. As fas as an ft35 she doesn't have enough accomodation for the third focal length.

I think two pairs OR a chem add clip (or something similar) is THE answer, but I was hoping for some mad creative something or other.

What about a distance/ near FT35 with a Chemistrie clip to convert distance to mid?

Neck injuries usually mean more than one pair, or an RX clip on (either traditional or Chemestrie)

Unfortunately that situation is like being 6'6" and needing to buy a suit, all options cost more than they would for a "normal" person.

That's the gold standard (dedicated task eyeglasses) for desktop monitors. Any deviation will compromise function to some extent.

For example, a power clip over the general purpose eyeglasses will overpower the near zone, unless that can be handled by the intermediate, a big if when there is limited neck motion. It will depend on how often the wearer looks at objects on their desktop. Moreover, the trifocal segment might be too high for a desktop monitor- not a problem for the dedicated FT28 that can be positioned optimally.

My vote is for the status quo.
