    Hello,

I got a Prescription with a Brackets as Below

    -1.00 (-2.00 x 160)

The above Prescription is from Paris written by an ophthalmologist. I will appreciate of some one confirm if Cylindrical power is in (+) or in (_)
    Thanks

My educated guess would be -1.00-1.00x70. Almost like they are insinuating that they are to have -1.00 in one meridian and -2.00 in the other (90 degrees away)... Just my 2 cents... Anyone else???

I would think that it reads as written: -1.00 -2.00 x160 with the parentheses there just to separate the cylinder power from the spherical power. I have yet to fill an Rx from France though...
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

I concur. Looks like it's in the form of an optical cross.

I'm not French, but Belgian. (France is about 120 Km away from here, what is that, 65-70 miles?)

The correct way is to just get rid of the brackets.

    So it reads: -1.00 -2.00 x 160
