Confused Blue lenses for brain injuries

I just had some ladies in for some blue lenses for one of them who had had a brain injury. I've heard of this before, however they mentioned specifically that there should be no "green" ... this might be a stupid question but the crizal reflex green won't hurt her right? I figure its better to have it in that case.

The green reflex won't affect it. The Sapphire would be a better choice. However, the AR process will shift the tint, and if a specific hue and density is required, adding an AR, regardless of the reflex, may not be a good idea.

hmm that's a good point ... the doctor didn't specify a hue or density. They literally picked up a pair of $12 glasses at a store and he said "yeah that's good enough" So I'm not getting a lot of advice

That sucks. I would refer them to an OPH for advice. Therapeutic tints are very specific. I feel for you. Good luck.

I agree with lensman that the problem wavelength is probably quite specific; blocking out "all green" might get the job done, but not sure how easy that is to do short of a pretty stark magenta tint.

LM, wouldn't Avance green be reflecting more green (and so have better efficacy) than Sapphire which is reflecting back blue?

Yeah, good point, H. At 1.3-1.5% reflectivity, it's probably a moot point, though. I still think that no AR for therapeutic tints is a better option.

No experience with this personally but this might help:

*There is the Omega listed under brain trauma which is a very grey based blue.
