I say exactly what you do. I have some old hilco yellow polarized lens frames that are at least 30 years old. There has never been an empirical study that shows an improvement in actual better night vision with these though right? Any enhanced clarity is negated by reduced vision because of less light reaching the eye. There was a pretty good study on this someone posted once upon a time. I basically leave it in the eye of the beholder, if they feel like it helps I let it help, but I never tell them it will. I'll gladly tint a few for'em though.

How effective is a polarized lenses with this level of tint?

This version of 'yellow driving lenses' seems to entail a grey gradient at the top- I guess that is what separates these from the rest? Or maybe it is a grey gradient polar with a yellow tint added...

Either way I'm still an advocate of BluTech for night driving- clearest vision and least amount of stress on my eyes.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

VE Clear Blue w/ AR is my vote. Or even the Duravision Blue.
Any lens with more than 5% residual tint should not be recommended for night driving imo. It's all about light transmission.

When the Blue-Blocker Glasses (same idea for Daylight) came out on TV in 1983, they sold thousands over and over.

Lots of products that don't do anything useful sell thousands over and over. Pet rocks sold millions. Our job is to know better and steer our patients accordingly.

    Good point Andrew Hamm.

Off topic, but my favorite late night commercial of all time is the First Alert button for senior citizens. "Help! I've fallen in the park and can't get up!" Not funny, but funny.
