    Infrared Photography

The IR genre is a specialized genre, and can be both challenging and rewarding. Here is an example (low res), and maybe, just maybe, some of you photogs on OB will be intrigued enough to take the challenge. PM me if you need more info.

Thanks. Your image is very nice as well. Good tonal range. What particular aspect of IR do you enjoy the most? I tend to lean towards trying to visualize the way IR will reflect and keeping everything on the proper spot on the zone system.

I always try to visualize it in print first, whether BW or color. I tend to prefer BW IR. Either way, the surreal look of a winter/hoar frost is so much fun. Second to that is IR portrait work.

As a landscape photographer, I do enjoy the challenge of scouting locations and timing the IR shoot for a mostly cloudy-overcast day. I find that clouds add a much needed dimension to landscape work, and when shot in IR, there is so much more detail.

As for the Zone system, I prefer to under-expose greens, as they are the primary whites in IR. I can always adjust shadow details, but not clipped whites.
