    Pits/Specks

Need advice please I am having problems with a pair of 1.67 progressive lenses. Ran one pair yesterday and the OD had 5 or 6 deep pits with no tails and the OS was fine. I got a new OD in today and ran it with the same pit results. I also looked at the OS that was fine yesterday and it now has pits as well! I had just changed my blade on the generator, checked polish temp and made sure not to expose the lenses to any unnecessary heat sources. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

How old is your polish? That might be a factor. Only thing I can think of.

Polish is about 2 weeks old. I don't run a ton of lenses so I usually can get by changing it about once a month.

"get by" is a give away for me. If you have a significant amount of swarf in the polish and evaporation over two weeks time, both of those things could give you pits. I could be wrong. I would change out new polish before running new lenses.

Any power fluctuations from the generator? Are you hard coating after?

I would check the vortex chiller adjustments. Position, temp and flow. When is the last time you checked the drive belt tension and condition? I would venture a guess that along with the pits in 1.67, you may also be experiencing intermittent deblocking issues with poly.
