    Satin Edge Polish

We'd like to be able to produce a satin or matte finish edge on poly and hi index lenses, but we've struggled to find a process or piece of equipment that will help us do this quickly. Can anyone share their experience with satin edges? Polishers, polish wheel types, and compound brands, models, and links are extremely helpful.

We currently use a pair of 7ex edgers, with an auto-polisher (http://www.1-800-optisource.com/Auto...le-Levels.aspx).

    Thank you!

Our edger gives us the option between satin finish and glossy finish no matter the material. That's odd that yours doesn't.

Redhot Jumper The simplest way is to just use OMS Polycarbonate edge polish........................

The simplest way is to just use OMS Polycarbonate edge polish.

Cut your lens the normal way and just wipe the product over the lens edges and it is totally glossy in seconds.

The owner has recently passed away. I am unaware as to the status of Optochemicals.

I believe McCray Optical purchased all of Chris's stuff about 2 years ago. They do not sell everything that he did, but I would start there and ask them if they have any intention of going forward with microtints.

Is there a difference between an unpolished edge and a satin polish?

Sure. The satin polish just isn't as shiny a a high-luster one, but it's still smooth and lightly polished.

Here, some call it 3/4 edge polish.

One could produce it my stopping the edging process after a few moments on the polishing wheel rather than letting go through the entire polishing process.
