I own this frame myself (for almost 7 years now) and have sold it for even longer. Never had a single issue with it until earlier this year. Now, I've had two separate patients complain of major irritation on their nose - with one actually getting an open sore at the contact point of the bridge.
I know these use a strange metal combination, and aren't monel in the traditional sense. But they also aren't a true stainless steel or titanium. I also guess they treat the bridge area (at least) with some form of coating - perhaps an epoxy or resin - to keep the metal from directly contacting the skin.
I'm just wondering if any of you are having issues of late with this frame, or others from SH in the vintage line that share the same metal saddle bridge? This seems strange to me, and I can't see any visible degradation of the metal or coating, nor see/feel any rough spots along the bridge. My sample size is rather small of course, but with more than 100 of these frames going out my door over the years, this new anomaly seems out of character for this frame.
Anyone else seeing issues with this particular frame, or any others from Europa's SH Vintage line perhaps??
Uilleann~
