I have a vintage eyewear customer who has been trying to identify & purchase these older Ray-Ban frame styles, and I haven't been able to find anything specific about them. .

Your kind help in identification would be a great start, even better, PM me with frame measurements & $$ if you have access to either or both!

    Thank you

Thanks for the quick reply, KittyEyes.

I'd researched the "FAOSA" previously - close, but too much lift across the top for pic 1. No go.

Courtland as EyeglassBoy.com?...TAMPICO is quite close to the b&w pic 2. I'll check this out further.

What would be most helpful is if someone could provide me the original Ray-Ban name/model numbers to make searching the secondary markets easier...

    Regards

Are you sure these frames are actually made by Bausch&Lomb -the original creators of Ray Ban? They seem to be pictures of Roy Orbison with his heavy black frames.
I'm going to research my 1960's FRAMES catalogs to find out the name of this frame as I've always wondered who made this frame.

Hello Walleye!-your indeed correct about the wearer, and the fact that either or both frames are not necessarily B&L.

The later 80's ones (colored pic) has some anecdotal information that they were custom? made by a Ontario, Canada fabricator using B&L lenses...they are the ones I'm primarily looking to track down.

In the 80's Imperial Optical of Toronto, CANADA had the biggest Canadian custom frame department and could make or duplicate anything.

I've looked thru the 1968 number 3 FRAMES catalog and cannot find this frame. A lot of close look alikes but not the same. I googled "Who made Roy Orbison's eyeglass frame" and a few you tube videos came up.

I believe you are looking for the old Victory Suntimers 0999L.

One of the google searches had a comment that said the frame was similar to the Palm Beach II by Victory Optical.
