    ISO: tinted side shields

OK, this is a weird request. I'm not sure if this product even exists, but I have apatient who wants to add sides to his sunglasses so the light doesn't come through as much. He has created a "leather" side shield right now, which is working OK but he was wondering if anything better was available. I couldn't find anything but I know I have a plethora of optical sources here so I thought I would give optiboard a shot!

Aye Aye brand shields fit on most frames. Hit them with black spray paint, and have them sign a statement acknowledging decreased peripheral vision. I have a few boxes in stock if you can't find them.

Any of the PPE safety suppliers should be able to get you exactly the side shields you need. Fourteen years ago before I retired I could have delivered just what you needed right to your door. Alas, times have changed.

Just so I'm clear on what you are asking, are you looking to:
    1. Add a pair of tinted side shield to tinted safety glasses?
2 Retrofit a pair of ophthalmic sunglasses with a tinted side shield?
    3. Find a pair of sunglasses that come with pretinted side shield like the Cazal 9055?

when using side shields on any osha ansi standard glasses, you may only use the side sheilds that were made for that frame, nothing else, most of the major mfg.s like titmus use to make them, usually in grey, contact the mfg. of the frame you need them for, all the rest is garbage, now if your talking regular dress eyewear glasses, do what you want at your own risk, however most auto part stores sell slip over side shields. personally i would tell this patient he can do what he chooses, but stay out of recommending something that is not made for the frame or the situation, as once you recommend, you become part of any future problems

The OP made no mention of safety glasses.
