    Anyone Ever Get This Feeling?

That if you did things perfectly correct and by the book you would be able to take care of about 10 people a day?
90% of everything is crap...except for crap, because crap is 100% crap

Hush, now, and get back to work. It will all be over soon.

In all seriousness, I feel that way fairly often. That's also one of the reasons why MVC work pays so little and boutiques get to charge so much.

    Good luck out there!

So, do you see 16 people per day flying by the seat of your pants... or? How many per day are you seeing, and what's being sacrificed? :)

Depending on your practice size and the number of ODs working there, 10 may be a good number. I started with an OD who'd just opened their first practice, and at the one year mark we were seeing an average of 10 people a day with a staff of three- the doc, me, and another optician, with a fourth person working on busier days to help with reception. I was primarily doing pretesting, sales, and adjustments, and the other optician more focused on edging, insurance, and adjustments. We were making a nice chunk of change and one of the more profitable offices in our region. Going into the second and third year, though, our OD was cramming 15-17 people onto the schedule with no additional staff. Our revenue didn't really go up all that much, but our churn drastically increased and another coworker and I both burned out. It's all a balancing act.
