    facepalm

I have seen a few threads talking about weird and crazy custmers but I figured we should have one for the dumb things we do from time to time.

I was checking in glasses a few weeks ago and I could not for the life of me get the lenso to focus. The RX was put in correctly and everyhting seemed fine. I then looked at the order and noticed I was reading a frame only job and I was trying to read a pair of demo lenses, Like the name Perry Ellis on the lenses didn't make it obvious. I hadn't had my coffee yet.

We have all been there. I believe the patients drive us to it.

Drain valve on LMPA tank failed pouring molten alloy on my new Wing Tips. You can not remove LMPA from the holes in the leather no matter what you do.

Went to pop a lens out of a zyl frame without knowing what material they were.

    They were glass.

    It shattered.

During a frame adjustment as a brand new apprentice, I accused a patient of removing his glasses with one hand. He showed me his hook. TRUE STORY!

This is the benchmark. All other stories will be measured by this standard.

Not sure which is worse- I definitely ruined a set of hi index in our hotbox for an out-of-towner. Thankfully he had a warranty back where he bought them.

...Which reminds me: did anyone else know you can't heat Phoenix Trans?? Cause I ruined a SECOND set of lenses after a remake for crazing just two days ago...

Try leaning down, face toward the kiln opening and attempting to blow them out. Your eyebrows eventually grow back.

Optech asked me to read the prism in a pair of glasses. I read it, and he said that wasn't what was ordered. A closer look revealed that whoever used the lensometer before me had used the prism ring without putting it back to zero.

Very early in my Optical career I was given a frame from a patient to adjust and we were busy, so they left and came back later to pick them up.

Upon them coming back I could not remember for the life of me where I put their frames, at all.

    3 1/2 weeks later, I found them.

    In the Ultrasonic Cleaner.

I dunno, between the hook and this story, I'm having a hard time deciding who the winner is here.

I dispensed glasses to the wrong person because I thought I remembered their name. The "real" patient arrived 2 hours later, which is the moment my light bulb finally lit up!
Now I ask for a name every time, even if I think I know it.
