endmyopia.org - Has Anyone Else Come Across This Crazy Before?

I was just messing around on the internet and stumbled across this site:

    http://endmyopia.org/

Isn't this some of the craziest stuff you have ever read? He took some basic optical science and extrapolated it into complete and utter nonsense. The only reason I mention it here is for everyone to get a good laugh at the conspiracy theories this guy is pushing.

I had no idea everyone here was involved in some incredible, wide-ranging conspiracy of such vast proportions! :P

Only the great unwashed will take this seriously but it will go on forever and ever like the "Bates Method"

You really cant fault a guy for trying to make a buck. You can only fault the chumps and suckers who fall for these schemes.

In their trial, O'Leary and his colleagues at the National University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, undercorrected the sight of half the children and fully corrected the rest. Then they measured the length of the eyeball with ultrasound every six months. To their surprise, they found that the eyeball elongates faster when vision is undercorrected.

I don't know if I'll get any agreement but I struggle with the O'Leary study you've quoted (poster number 4). How often do we get patients who have just started going myopic around the teenage age group and, when we educate about good visual hygiene and decide not to prescribe (effectively under correcting) we see no shift in refraction. Better still, when we prescribe low plus (effectively under-misusing too) we also see no further deterioration. One apparent (huge) flaw in his technique was a mis-match in age groups between his two groups. He also commented that there was little evidence to support under prescribing - well there's isn't actually much gold standard evidence to support prescribing full Rx either (of which I don't consider his to be an example).
