If the ADD is +1.00 (I think that's what it looks like...) than your math is correct. That makes sense if this is a patient new to presbyopia.

If the add is +1.00 and it requires +2.50 diopters of accommodation to see clearly at 40cm that means your patient has +1.50 of useable accommodation. Meaning their amplitude of accommodation with a +1.00 add would be 100cm to 36 cm more than enough to accomplish most near and intermediate tasks.
