Question Options for X-Cel Freeform ID wearer?

My new patient has successfully worn the Freedom ID in PGX for some years now through another provider. He's in a hurry to obtain his new Rx post-op after his recent cataract surgery, OU, and willing to go to Transitions CR39 as a result. I'm curious if I can even get the Freedom ID now that X-Cel is apparently going by the wayside ('E'-side.) I know nothing about the Freeform ID other than the material availability and wonder if I should even try to obtain it.

    New Rx
    +050-025x165/+250
    -050-050x080/+250

Can anyone describe the Freeform ID product and suggest possible substitutes? Any insight is appreciated! TIA

If it's PGX he prefers, contact Bill at FEA. They do free form PAL's in glass. I'm Sure that their EAGLE in-hose designs would prove most suitable.

Thanks, Paul. I grew up with Bill Hefner at FEA. We played hockey together and my dad knew Bill Sr. It's good to know what products are available, but I'm more interested in learning about the Freedom ID (does not appear to be a freeform) design and what complementary designs exist.

Any other ideas, please send them my way. Thanks!

I haven't used it in years. I believe that they are considered more of a "T" configuration at the horizontal than a "Y", providing more lateral eye movement in the distance quadrant. I seem to remember that they are aspheric in design. Medium channel design. Comparable to say, Shamir Genesis.

Beautiful! That's what I was hoping to learn. Much thanks, Paul!

As was mentioned above, we have over a dozen different free-form designs we can do in glass, usually cheaper than regular PALs. If you have a problem with your availability, let me know and we'll see what we can do to find the right design for you.
