Ian Jordan Go Fund Me for east coast lecture???

    Throwing it out there---
Ian Jordan is a Scottish Optician on the cutting edge of tints and visual perception.

Some will recognize the name. We've discussed him visiting for a lecture but it never seems to get off the ground.

If possible I'll pledge the first $100 to bring him over but will need help getting a go fund me page going.

I'd love to see it close to home in Boston but would travel the East coast to say Virginia to meet and hear him lecture.

Full disclosure - He is a sometimes poster on the Optiboard but gets rightfully discouraged when some naysayers dismiss it as false science.

Now let me see if I can find the fascinating pictures that show EEG's proving the electric activation (or lack there of) in area's of the brain when some individuals are exposed to specific tints. Meanwhile- explore the rest of his web site as well---

If he is discouraged that easily, he can't be much of a speaker.

Why? Comments like this cause those of us who care to wonder why we bother trying. Speakers can't have feelings?
What have you done to contribute to the optical world that it is worth paying to learn?

Nothing, because I don't believe in ever charging for knowledge.

Knowledge is gained through either experience or education. You're going to pay one way or the other. The latter eliminates most of the costly trial and error.

If this is an accepted treatment modality one would expect it to be taught in existing academic institutions and recognized by our professional societies.

Taught by whom and to which professional societies. For years people have sought out experienced but dwindling Opticians specializing in unconventional solutions to niche situations, combine that with OMD's who may not see the financial benefits, who does that leave.

You must not be familiar with the current "Open" movement. Open journals, open textbooks, open universities, open institutions, etc... Information is meant to be free. Locking it behind paywalls hurts everyone. That's one reason I am such a fan of what Steve has done here. You have to be a professional to comment, but everyone is free to read.

Well this derailed quickly, why don't people only post if they are interested in helping? Internet trolls that like to throw insults are a dime a dozen, do we really need that here?

Steve, still requires financial support for this site. You might notice that some of us who have benefited from this site are supporters; meaning we give $ to help Steve keep the site up. Yes, and you can check out books at your local library with your card. YouTube, to your hearts content. Self education is one thing but acquiring education in a traditional formal structure with lecturer for a specific skill set is another. NO GAS, GRASS, OR *** NO RIDE.

Count me in for helping financially, I'm fascinated by the subject and shocked not as many people are responding with enthusiasm.

We've all thrown away money at CE courses that nothing to do with our daily tasks, I now know the only thing I'm gaining from most conferences is deals at the trade show.

Knowledge is the best form of advertising for your business, especially what most in the ophthalmic industry consider a niche.
