    RE: Some opinion about mixing different index for glasses!

    Hi, I just joined this site to get some professional opinion...
    Can we actually mix 2 different materials for glasses..
    OD: -0.50 CR39
    OS: -4.00 1.60
    Some opticians say yes, some no...
    I know they have different abbe value, but some of my customers can not afford it and I need your opinion and recommendations.
    Those are stock lenses, and I also want to know about progressive.
    Please let me know about this.

    You can mix indexes to balance thickness, weight, optics and cosmetics wherever you feel fit. Sometimes the coatings and lens colour may differ slightly but is a justifiable trade off to achieve better results.
