    Basic Training

I want to train some of my new optically disfunctional employees basics. Best place to look?

The late great Mr. Meister the Master and Dr. Sheedy's excellent contribution:

And a much simpler take requiring an email:
    https://opticianworks.laramyk.com/

The opticianworks study guide was really helpful for the more "visual" staff we have.

The LaramyK study guide wasn't bad. Worth a look.

You might want to reexamine your business model if you have to go outside of your own doors to train your optically disfunctional employees. In house training should be an integral component of your day to day business.

I'm a big fan of the Laramy K book. It is really good at covering the stuff that isn't so hands on, like anatomy and terminology. I love doing the training for my company but I do recommend those interested in ABO get a copy to touch on the topics I am not as fluent in. I can walk newbies through reading RXs, fitting, and adjusting all day, but when it comes down to it, our state does not require certification and therefore we are training people off the street. I was never trained for training, but people seem to like my method of teaching and I like doing it. Having resources like OpticianWorks and the Hoya online training is a life saver.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

I think I have a book that someone on this forum sent to me when I was looking for some training material. Ill be happy to pass it along. send me a PM. It's the system for ophthalmic dispensing by Brooks and Borish. I left opticianry for optical tech. I'm glad to finally pay it forward.

The Basic opticians Tutorial through the national Academy of opticianry follows the task analysis of the ABO basic exam. Contact NAO Road 800–229-4828.
