Strange indeed...
How low will the bottom go? Most offices are already competitive to 1-800. There are some places that now pop up selling contacts for less than a buck more than my wholesale. If these sites get more promotion, then this literally remove any chance of profitability from contact lens materials.

True but it is like the IRS, once they look at you for one thing, they look for other things...
If memory serves me correctly it wasn't too long ago that a board member if not chairman of the FTC was none other than CEO of ................wait for it.............1-800-contacts!!!
I suppose one can't blame 1-800 anymore than the CL suppliers. Selling their souls to the onliners and big boxes for a fast buck, offering ridiculous volume discounts - and specifically undercutting private practice.
But they keep telling us they're our buddies!
