It is a sad reality that the 2 year mark has passed and so will the company formally know as "X-Cel". They are discontinuing many products and moving it all to the E dallas 9-6-16.
RIP

Essilor Acquires Lens Maker X-Cel Optical
By StaffMonday, January 7, 2013 12:30 AM
SAUK RAPIDS, Minn.— Essilor (ESSI.PA) has acquired ophthalmic lens maker X-Cel Optical, based here. The purchase price was not announced. Joe Doescher, CEO and president of X-Cel, told VMail that he and CFO Wayne Gottwalt retain a 20 percent stake in company, which had been privately held by members of his family and management since 1983. Doescher said both he and Gottwalt remain in their current roles, along with other members of the management team.
“X-Cel Optical is a very well-run manufacturing company with products and services that Essilor does not currently have,” said an Essilor spokesperson. “We’re adding them to our team to incorporate those products and services into our distribution channels.”

Here is a copy
I received this today as well.... so sad. It even reads with such melancholy. *tear
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?
In my opinion, the main reasons why U. S. Optical Manufacturing Companies have offshored manufacturing are:
- Lower labor costs
- Few or no environmental regulations
- Less government regulation on building construction and operations
- Lower taxes
- Global “free trade” mentality
This erosion of jobs will continue as there seem to be:
- Ever increasing labor cost ($15.00 minimum wage)
- Ever increasing government regulations
- Ever increasing government regulation on building construction and operations
- Ever increasing taxes and regulatory fees
- Ever increasing “free trade” mentality
Dick you are totally right, it is not only moving jobs away it is also the resulting devaluation of the Dollar.

- Ever increasing “free trade” mentality
When will they cease operations?
