Blue Jumper New photo-chromatic from FEA called NuanceRT!

Got the sample and went outside in the sun/heat of Florida and compared the NuanceRT to Transitions and Xtractive. The Nuance RT got darker and faster than Transitions in a more pleasing color which was just as dark or darker than Xrtactive! It also got light much faster than either Trans or Xtra. I need in trivex but "I believe this is the best photochromic I have ever tested!

I have been told it is very advantageous when used in the cold since it changes back at-least 2x faster than transitions.

Last photo I tested before using I left outside for 6 months to ensure it remains comparable to a transition.

Anyone wanting a sample to test it out, we're more than happy to send it out. You can either pm me or check out the contact section on the NuanceRT website.

In the plethora of 'other' brand photo lenses, it really only makes sense to try it out and see how it works for yourself.

Any timeline for the trivex? LenSync needs trivex as a 1st choice.

My result was about 40% green residual tint. A few patients loved it!

I didn't have that issue with the version I tested, it did however have a 10-15% residual gray tint. Whereas transitions may be 5-7% indoors.

The men didn't notice but women were not as accepting.

This technology is a chance to break-away from E who now owns 100% of transitions; better technology for the same price! Sounds good to me and it supports independent lens company and independent labs who put in this product as a house brand offering; LUV IT!

FEA is the first one to take the risk and offer this product; try to support them and tell the world we can change as a group to offer a new technology is less than 10 years.

Not to steal Bill's thunder but we also introduced a new photochromic last October. It is available in finished and semi finished single vision and semi finished progressive at a very attractive price. I could quote lots of test results but the proof is in the pudding. Samples available on request and oh yes we are independent.

I know I've seen plenty of 'me-too' photochromic lenses. Usually whenever anyone has anything new, it works more or less the same as the 'big brand' ones. Maybe the color is a little different, or one is a few percent darker or lighter. The 'new' one is usually a bit cheaper, and that's the main selling point. Close enough to brand name, but cheaper.

NuanceRT, on the other hand, is actually different. The fact that it changes so much faster makes it a unique product. I've had plenty of the other ones come and go over the years, but this lens actually has something that represents improvement.

I agree that this is a better technology and the rest have all been close but not better. I am looking forward to the trivex being launched.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there's nothing else out there that's good, it's just in the past ~5 years it seems like everyone has their own photochromic, and it gets difficult to tell them apart.

i am going to order the trivex for myself as soon as I get a new refraction.
They work much better than T7 in hot and cold testing we did.
    I am a believer.

And now that VE is part of Hoya, it's one of the few photochromics left that isn't from one of the big three.

Nope. I don't know that shipping is that prohibitive to ship from the US though.

Bill, can you confirm this lens remains at something like 20% dark even indoors? The transitional speed is nice, but that level of residual darkening would be a deal breaker for many of my patients. Just wanting to confirm straight from the source. Thanks!

    No. It's 8-10% indoors. I'll add a pic shortly.

Edit: Pic for comparison is here. These are semi-finished blanks, so that's why you get the darker ring around the outside of them.
