Hello everyone,
I am corresponding with an OD over email. He said:
"I would NOT like her to have -1.00 lenses with -1.50 astigmatism... I am OK with her having plus undercorrection to plano -1.50 in both eyes...
...
When the PO suggests minus lens over-correction or surgery... that is the time to make the trip to see me. "
Can you please explain
minus over-correction
plus under-correction
Thank you.

History:
My 5 year old daughter has intermittent strabismus for near and constant strabismus for distance.
Her prescription from 2013 when she first saw a pediatric opthalmologist(PO) is:
OD = +0.50 | +1.50 x 90
OS = +0.25 | +1.50 x 75
but he had advised
OD = 0.00 | +1.50 x 90
OS = 0.00 | +1.50 x 75
Notice, no spherical power.
A different PO had prescribed:
OD = -3.00 | +1.50 x 90
OS = -3.00 | +1.50 x 80
which I believe is equivalent to:
OD = -1.50 | -1.50 x 0
OS = -1.50 | -1.50 x 170
Now, a new PO has prescribed:
OD = 0.00 | -1.50 x 0
OS = 0.00 | -1.50 x 165
I believe that last 2 prescriptions have minus over-correction.
Now, I am talking to a new OD by email. What does the OD mean by:
"I would NOT like her to have -1.00 lenses with -1.50 astigmatism... I am OK with her having plus undercorrection to plano -1.50 in both eyes..."
Thank you.
