People are getting large and heavy

Big frames I have got. Word of my plus size frame collection has spread around town... now I need the dispensing chairs to match!

The chairs I "inherited" are not meant for the big boned. Has anyone found sturdy wide chairs that would fit in a dispensary setting? Like the Elasta double bar of dispensing chairs? I am worried one of mine may crumple under someones seat. (It has happened once already... about a year ago)

Don't even get me started on exam chairs! That is a whole other problem...

Look into any place that sells medical furniture, they should have what you need. They have become much more common in the last 10 years.

Obese people and chairs with wheels, priceless! Might want to talk with your insurance person.

I had a very large (500 lbs+) patient sit at the dispensary chair the other day. It made such a horrible noise, I though for sure it was going to break and he would be on the floor. That was when he placed the order. The order came in this am and I need to notify him. Scares me. May have to make him stand while I dispense or maybe make him sit on the bench in the waiting room and come to him. I'm petite. No way I could help this guy off the floor!

Ask him to bring in his own chair or whatever appliance he uses to sit. You might also check the load limit of the floors in your office as you don't want to be in violation of your local building codes.

However, don't give the super-sized customer too much grief as he may haul you into court for a violation of the ADA and end up owning the place.
