    ISOTech Introduction

    Hi all!

We would like to take the opportunity on this first post to introduce ourselves.

Before we do that, ISOTech wants to thank Optiboard admin for allowing us to have a forum here.

ISO was born in 1988 in the heart of Paris. It stands for “Institut Superieur d’Optique”.(www.iso.fr) It started as one school born with a mission to train the best Opticians and grew from there over the next 25 years to become the largest provider of Opticianry and Ophthalmic education in the world. ISO now has 13 campuses on 3 Continents and graduates 800 licensed Opticians every year. At any one time, we have around 3000 students across various programs offering:

    -Opticianry
    -Advanced Opticianry
-Business degrees tailored to the Ophthalmic world
-Bachelor degree in Design and Frame crafting
    -Corporate Training

Over the years, some of our graduates have become professional leaders, joined the corporate world, opened their own stores, own retail chains, design their own brands/ or went into research and teaching.

ISO has always been a firm believer in advanced Opticianry Education. The Optician is an essential vision care professional and without quality Opticians, patient satisfaction and visual needs cannot be met.

With ISOTech, we export to North America our know-how in training quality Ophthalmic Professionals. Because ISOTech is not only about education but also about employability, we listened to the industry and have partnerships with industry leaders to craft and adjust our curricula, so that our graduates are always up to date with new technologies and market needs.

We believe that students need a global approach which is why the training is very hands on, with many labs. We don’t teach conclusions, we give students the scientific foundation to understand concepts. From the nature of light to manual edging of lenses, we try to teach every aspect that make professionals efficient.

ISOTech obtained the necessary licensing from the Florida Department of Education and we have already started enrolling students. For this first year the program offering is as follow:

    -Optometric Assistant
    -Ophthalmic Lab Technologist
-Exam review courses for people already working in the field
    -Corporate training

We are working toward more advanced degrees: Associate Degree in Science, Bachelor Degree in Ophthalmic Science and more…

100% of our programs are on campus. We do not believe that the skills we teach can be acquired through online education.

We believe that every state should regulate Opticianry. As you well know, this is not always the case, but regardless of the state requirements, quality education is cornerstone.

At a time where online dispensing becomes more mainstream, staff education will make the difference in the eyes of the public.

We look forward to being involved in your community, listen to your feedback and engage in fun activities. Look out for quizzes and contests which will be coming soon!

    Thank you all!
