You probably would not have been "bamboozled" if you had taken the time to read and understand the excellent documentation that came with the unit. Its only shortcoming was that it was not as robust in daily use as one would have wished.

Remember that all the trays in the lab were made of wood and the ratio of glass to plastic was 80/20

Remember when people paid for their own eye exams and glasses. No credit cards. No insurance. No nothing but cash on the barrel head.

Remember when Optometrists advertised for optical dispensary staff … “No experience necessary”, or “will train”.

Blue Jumper Turtle Shell frames ........................

For a while I started a winter hobby in the late 1960s making a few ladies bracelets from turtle shell pieces. Fusing them small pieces together with steam, then cutting sanding and polishing.

Once I got the hang of it I actually ended up with 2 genuine turtle shell frames, one in semi blonde and the other in black.

I decided it was to big a job to make a living with it.

I'd dot the sample lens at base of pupil. Set the lens on a pattern then dot the sample center from the pattern. Measure the in and (usually) up and block accordingly. Loved the Ultra-vue 28!

Here's a similar thread started years ago when I was new to Optiboard---

Remember when it was technically illegal for an optometrist to recommend artificial tears to a dry eye patient.

That's back when we put them in a crock pot at night to clean them, or at least that's what it looked like. I was 6 when I got my first soft contact lens. I remember they would pop out and my poor parents would almost cry they were so expensive.
What is reality but a concept unique to each of us? Can anything be classed as real when our perceptions differ greatly on so many things? Just because we see something a particular way does not make it so.
