    Good Luck Mermaid!!!

Brush up on your case studies. Example: What lens would you put a hyperopic musician in?

    Review prism and Prentice's rule.

Know your equipment like the vertometer and lens clock, etc.

Hello Mermaid, here's some advice I give to all test takers no matter what the subject.
When beginning the test and you're a bit nervous the questions appear to be more difficult than they really are. Skip any tough ones at first and get some of the easy ones out of the way, when you go back to some of the tougher ones your nerves will have settled down and they won't be so tough anymore.
    Good Luck, Rich R

Just remember that sometimes its good to go with your first "hunch" (how's that for profound wisdom???). The suggestion that you get a lot of rest before the exam was a good one as well.

Most importantly, however, is that you simply believe that you are going to pass the exam. If you know Prentice Rule, what a lens clock is, and how to take a p.d., you should have no problem passing the ABO exam. Let us know how you do (and you always do better than you think you did)!

    Pete
PS- Don't be afraid to "guess," because there is no penalty for guessing...

Mermaid, One thing that always causes problems; read the questions carefully, understand what is being asked. misunderstanding what is being asked causes more misses than not knowing. Your buddy Al.

    Heya Wizards!
    Gotta question for ya:
WHEN is a combination of prism cancelling? And when is it compounding???
Came across this on one of my practice tests!!
    Need some help with it!
    Thanks!

    Mermaid,
Prism is cancelling when it is:
    base up and base up
    base down and base down
    base in and base out

    Compounding:
    base up and base down
    base in and base in
    base out and base out

for example, if you have a pair of glasses with 1 diopter base up OD and 2 diopters base up OS, then your total prism is 1 base up, because 1 prism diopter is cancelled. I hope I explained that ok - otherwise I'm sure someone else will! Good luck on the exam!

Study now, review your own information, and sleep Saturday night. Don't, Don't, Don't cram late. Eat a little breakfast, not a lot, and relax. Dress comfortably. If you know it, you know it. Take your time and read the questions, carefully. Understand what the question is and go with your first answer.

For those you don't know, I'll suggest the same as before, guess. Don't leave a question unanswered, guess.

    Good luck.

    Diane

TX has a severe Winter Storm warning this weekend (yes it does get cold here!). Just my luck!
Crossing my fingers it doesn't come - they're often wrong and love to stir
things up around here...let's HOPE they're wrong again!!
    Thanks again!
