    Question

As a provider of CE hours, I would like to know the best class you have ever attended. The best speaker? Worst class? What topics would you like to see addressed that have never been tackled, thus far? Inquiring minds (like mine) want to know! Thanks!

    Best class/speaker: Ralph Drew
One of the worst: Cherebono talking mostly about his bad knees, raising a daughter on his own, and bragging how many people line up for his class in larger meetings. Had so much of this not much time was spent on substance of subject.

Ralph Drew,Barton Levoy,Charlie Daum, and Stu May were great! They more or less relied on Practice Management as subjects for talks. You always came away with something that made your business better. They took the ordinary things that sometimes we are too close to recognise, and made you stop and think about them. Most of their subjects came from observation.(They all were connected with frame comapanies so most of the time they were out observing optical shops and practices. My advice is to travel around and observe what goes on in optical shops.I once heard a presentation on the simple subject of the telephone.Suggestions on how to put it to work for you just by the way you answer it.Look in these discussion forums for possible subjects. How about the one on "Secret Shoppers"? What if all customers were treated as if they were secret shoppers? There would be a lot less complaints and a lot happier customers. If you observe and listen you won't have to look far for some great subjects.Good Luck and Best Wishes from

Bob Bieber, Ralph Drew, Ed August, Joe Solecitto (refraction), Ed DeGennaro, all great speakers. Recently, Irving Borish, great, even at 83! Oh, and Rita Rae that does seminars for Varilux, what a speaker!
