Holy Mackerel Andy! What a blessing to the optician. Think of the great reduction in inventory, elimination of the noisy, smelly lab and no more pesky non-adapts. And its quiet.

This reminds me of something....what is it... Oh yes! Those other electronic things... from Pixel Optics. What ever happened to those? I don't think these will do better.

I discussed this with my brother about 15 years ago. The sensors and processor were doable at that time, with plenty of military applications. Most of that is now off-the-shelve technology. The lens is another matter, and appears to be vaporware. I'd guess we might see a prototype in 5 to 10 years, and a commercially viable device in another 10 years, or more.

Look how long it took for flat screen TVs.

Inherently adaptive polymer nanocomposites are well into their development cycle today by many companies but I fear that a pair of these things would be frightfully expensive. Just be patient though.

Immediately available to consumers, once the production company finds enough gullible OD owned practices to purchase minimum buy-in of 36 pieces...again.

It looks like they just received some funding including participation from optical industry leaders. https://www.morningstar.com/news/pr-...es-market.html

The company's website lists its founders and they have very impressive resumes.

Redhot Jumper Essilor in among the investors ................

Israel, March 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Deep Optics, a pioneer of dynamic focal glasses, has raised US$4 Million in a Series A funding round to fuel the development of its electronic lens and glasses system. The round includes strategic investor Essilor, the world leader in ophthalmic optics, Taiwan-based Atomics 14 Ventures and several private investors, including Saar Wilf, Deep Optics's Chairman and first investor.

if they jump in there must be some good reason.
