    Wave Hippa

Hi everyone. I am curious if anyone knows the steps to reporting Hippa violations. Where would someone start if the clinic administrator doesn't acknowledge violations ?

You might also want to update your resume and check out the "Whistle Blower" laws.

How to File a Health Information Privacy or Security Complaint

    Complaint Requirements

Anyone can file a health information privacy or security complaint. Your complaint must:

    • Be filed in writing by mail, fax, e-mail, or via the OCR Complaint Portal
    • Name the covered entity or business associate involved, and describe the acts or omissions, you believed violated the requirements of the Privacy, Security, or Breach Notification Rules
    • Be filed within 180 days of when you knew that the act or omission complained of occurred. OCR may extend the 180-day period if you can show "good cause"

    I agree with braheem.

If you're leaving and never coming back to optics then burn bridges. Otherwise, think about what you're reporting. If it's eyeglass only related or a record with the name visible I'd let it go. Someone gossiping to others what's in a medical history is something the owner should know about.

I don't know how long you've been in our small world- but believe me when I tell you within a couple of phone calls I will know pretty much everything about you and why you're looking for new work.

Uncle, My comment was not made to further his climb in his career.

As an owner my biggest hinderence to success is finding wualified people, I have hired based on the lesser of 2 evils, where no service is sometimes worse then mediocre service, However I always try to hire people who can achieve exceptional customer service.

OP stated he spoke to the "Administrator", Sometimes the Doctor or Owner cannot wear both hats and must delegate. Often times it's not the same quality work the owner would achieve.

I would hate to see a person who has struggled to make a practice successful suddenly brought down because no on bothered consulting the only person it truly hurts first.

It is small....everyone knows everyone and one word about one gets around to all. Just keep that in mind.
