Trivex vs Hi Index scratch resistance

    1) What has a stronger resistance to scratches without any coatings, trivex or high index 1.61 mr-8 plastic ? Is it significant?

    2) How big of a difference does adding a scratch coating to a trivex or a high index mr-8 lens make?

I have a pair of 1.61 MR-8 polarized lenses that didn't have a scratch coat put on them, i'm pretty rough on them and still no issues, but maybe my idea of rough and a consumers would be different.

In general, all lens materials except cr39 are anti scratch coated automatically because they are all naturally very scratchable. Only cr39 is naturally pretty scratch resistant. The real difference you can make is to add a strong AR coating to them, which improves them all in scratch resistance, and optical clarity at the same time.
