Good points, but we are only talking about taking some possibly preventive measures that seem innocuous to me, such as encouraging parents to limit the amount of mobile device gazing their kids do, moving their working distance out to a normal reading distance (at least), and turning down the intensity of those devices. Some of us are working on additional lens types that offer additional protection for those who want it (are willing to pay for it). That we are free to do so is a nice feature of living in the USA. And it may turn out we were right, when all those studies are done.
I think such early warnings, are kind of like it's turning out in Flint where the majority of those in power poo pooed the possibility that kids had been poisoned and mocked the whistleblowers. I hope the Flint people don't have to wait too long for any studies for the powers that be to take rapid corrective action, starting with recalling their gov. Oops, sorry for straying off topic.
