    Santinelli lex 1000

I am working as a consultant at an Ophthalmology office, and they need a new edger. Found one of these, refurbished, reputable company selling, but don't know anything about it. I had a santinelli/ format edger back in the early 90's, so I have no idea if they are good or bad. Any help appreciated, and if anyone on here has one in South east Virginia, or central to eastern North Carolina, possible road trip to get hands on look.

Hey Buddy! How ya been? I've got one at my other location. We've ran a ton of jobs through it. Only thing we needed maintenance on was the main drive shaft motor. Put a Trivex wheel on it and it will rock!

Give me a call at home sometime!!

I use this model daily, i second the trivex wheel suggestion, only maintenance issue was the main drive motor and the safety bevel arm bearing.

    Overkill?

how would this edger compare to the 9000 (or to a refurbished 7070?). I also have one in the area that is becoming available but am wondering if it is not overkill for a small office that does 7-9 jobs a day. The one that I am looking at comes with the ICE blocker and a drill but it happens to be at around the same price point as a used 9000. We do not need anything too fancy since we do mainly single vision AR jobs, basic progressives and bifocals. We do not really do many curvy, wrap frames although I know that this unit excels in that. Furthermore, drill mounting is not a big part of our practice and am not sure that we would want to put in too much training for that.

I find that my 9000 Series still does not cut Trivex and Poly well even after replacing with a diamond cut Trivex wheel and professional adjustments. Great on CR39 okay on Poly and long winded on Trivex jobs....
