    MARCH 21st, 2016 OPTICIAN/CONTACT LENS FITTER class

    MARCH 21st, 2016 OPTICIAN/CONTACT LENS FITTER classes.

6-month OPTICIAN/CONTACT LENS FITTER career training is our 'Morning Class', 8:30am-12:30pm, Monday through Friday.

BC College of Optics (BCCO) celebrates 32-years of training Opticians and Contact Lens Fitters. Our accelerated ‘6-month theory and hands-on practice’ trains BCCO graduates to Advanced ABO and Advanced NCLE level status. Our intensive
program is designed for motivated students committed to becoming fully-qualified in the opticianry profession. And the US dollar is still 25% higher than Canadian currency, making this an ideal time to consider Canadian opticianry training.

BC College of Optics is located 120 miles north of Seattle, Washington… near beautiful Vancouver, BC, CANADA and no Canadian Study Permit application is required for USA residents.

Basic high school ‘Mathematics’(Algebra) is required, as our program includes full optical theory with Geometric Optics formulas. From understanding ‘prism’ and calculating ‘slab-off’, to designing iseikonic lenses, you will become a fully-qualified Optician/Contact Lens Fitter in only 6-months of intensive study.

Optical instrumentation and ‘hands-on practical’ in both Dispensing and Contact Lens Fitting is taught in-house. Our trainingincludes all types of contact lenses and includes specialty RGP contact lenses such as front toric, back toric and bitoric RGP lenses, plus scleral and bifocal contact lenses. Keratometer, biomicroscope (slit-lamp), radiuscope and lensometry training is included and all in-house/hands-on training is taught by fully-experienced instructors.

Request a 6-months ‘leave of absence’, and return home fully-qualified in September 2016 ready to handle anything optical that comes through your employer’s door. Or, you can even open your own optical retail business. If you want to advance in your optical career, this is an excellent opportunity to boost your optical knowledge, increase your annual income and add formal professional qualifications to your resume.

‘Registration Form’ for BCCO classes may be found in our school website… www.bccollegeofoptics.ca

I just don't see how a 6 month course when all the other courses are 2 years, make a person a fully qualified optician and ready to open their own business if you will.

All BCCO graduates of our 6-month OPTICIAN/CONTACT LENS FITTER program must first pass our own rigorous written and practical opticianry exams, and then go on to pass the NACOR National exams. This make them very qualified to work in this field.
As to opening their own optical business, one of our 1993 BCCO grads now owns a chain of fourteen (14) optical stores, 10 in BC and 4 in Ontario.

It’s all about competencies, not process. A person is judged by demonstrated optical competencies, and not by length of program.
