    College fees

    Hey fellow Canadian opticians,

I was just wondering if anyone has a list of the college fees for all the provinces. I am just being a curious cat and curious how Ontario's College fees stack up to other provinces.

I don't have a list but if I were to guess, Ontario's are probably close to 2x the other provinces', but that's because they have a combined license. Most of the rest of them break it down into your Optician's license then then a second, optional License for CCLF (Contacts). It's been a while since I looked into this though, so things may have changed.

Redhot Jumper I had a private message here on OptiBoard ...................

I had a private message here on OptiBoard correcting me previous post and I am posting it right here to make things right. Thanks for helping.

    Hello Chris,
Obviously you failed to understand that this thread was inquiring about the various annual provincial regulatory College fees for registrants, and not wanting your list of Canadian accredited opticianry schools.
The accredited Canadian schools mentioned in your list are public College opticianry programs accredited by the voluntary and private NACOR accrediting agency.
The Canadian private opticianry programs in British Columbia offer private Colleges opticianry accreditation status through BC's own Ministry of Advanced Education.

Therefore your comprehensive list of Canadian accredited opticianry school might have included our BC College of Optics...www.bccollegeofoptics.ca

BC College of Optics was founded in 1984 and our private opticianry school's opticianry program has been PCTIA accredited since 1998 by BC Ministry of Advanced Education. See PCTIA ...www.pctia.bc.ca

So you might want to update your Canadian opticianry school list and list BC College of Optics' OPTICIAN/CONTACT LENS FITTER PROGRAM as 6-months in length. Our BCCO graduates have been writing the rigorous Canadian NACOR National competency exams in Dispensing and Contact Lens Fitting since 2006, and they have average-scored "as good as, or better" than the many longer 2-year public opticianry programs offered in Canada.

Also, please be advised that Ontario's Seneca College now offers a full-time 2-year opticianry program in addition to its 4-year part-time apprenticeship-style program.

Yeah i figured us Ontario opticians pay more in general than most provinces. My curiosity is just getting the better of me and im curious as to how much. Figured some other Canadian opticians in other provinces might be able to post and post their college fees

    Thanks Chris,
Now it only remains for you to re-submit you Canadian accredited Colleges list to this OptiBoard thread and include Seneca College's 2-year full time program and our own BC College of Optics' 6-month accredited opticianry program.

Does anyone know which institution offers the best opticianry program? I am considering Seneca College. Any advice would be appreciated!
